Artist Mission Statement
My artistic contributions are windows, doorways, staircases and views into ethereal worlds that merge the celestial with the worldly, to connect what is above to what is below, heaven and earth. These portals are symbolic of a route to growth, transition and transcendence. With my work, I seek to break through to hidden inner realms and express the world of the spirit into material form and share these realities with others. By doing so, my pieces radiate energy through visual language and bring light into the darkness. My art can help the viewer manifest their most elevated capabilities which can be utilized in everyday life to benefit themselves and all of life. This can allow us to relate to one another in a richer, fuller and more meaningful way. As an artist, I derive meaning by breathing life into a wide array of mixed media materials to express, conjure and create something that is authentic. My goal is to touch and prompt the viewer into becoming connected with their enigmatic and limitless divinity; to provide a visual guide aiding in their discovery of enrichment, fulfillment, wholeness and self-realization.
The 16th century alchemist Gerhard Dorn described his notion of what he called the “spiracle” as a window or breathing hole into eternity. The spiracle is considered a hole or passageway in the field of consciousness that allows the “autonomous dynamism (or independent movement) of the collective unconscious” to penetrate through into the area of the personal unconscious. One of the most important aspects of my artwork includes the layering of different materials. This layering represents the different facets of our inner world and the uncovering of our various layers. Spiracles offer us valuable awareness and perspective which can be used to understand and integrate these different parts of ourselves so that we may come into alignment and harmony internally and externally. By doing so, we are able to heal and transcend confusion and the inner turmoil that obscures our higher personal potential. In refining our own situations, we are able to more effectively relate to the outer world and create a more peaceful environment which contains a deeper solidarity with all life. We have the ability to purify and uplift our consciousness and perceptions which in turn supports everyone and everything around us to do the same. We thus serve as conduits for awakening, relief from suffering and become capable in assisting others to do the same.
Through my artistic endeavors, I materialize a mode of communication onto each wooden panel (canvas). Conveying states of consciousness and spirituality that surpass words and instead beckon intention, wonder, desire, curiosity and connection with Oneness, prompting the viewer to look deeply inside themselves to resonate with similar reflections. These reflections can provide the viewer with support, connectedness and self-sufficiency to help them feel solid on their own journey through life. In this way, my art pieces can be understood as transmissions from the spirit world and mystical artifacts that go beyond space and time. I wish to give the viewer a unique glimpse into mysterious, previously unknown and uncharted territory so as to encounter unlimited possibilities that can expand and spiritualize one’s reality and to more fully embody their spiritual awareness into the physical dimension.
